Monthly Word Count Goal                          7350

Words Written                                                      9621

Days Didn’t Write But Should Have           2

Days Didn’t Meet Daily Goal                       5

Days Daughter Was Teething                      14

Days I Was Sick                                            3 and counting

Days I Had Company                                   1

Those are the rough stats. I wrote mainly on a Christmas Story I’m excited about, though occasionally I worked on a couple other projects, including Episode 6. The last week my main focus was on editing, I was still able to write but I didn’t always meet my daily word count goal. I’m ok with that because I still accomplished something writing related.

I didn’t get as much done editing wise as I wanted. I ended up getting sick there at the end of the week and didn’t want to do anything but moan and have someone take care of me. Unfortunately I did not get that. I still feel like crap but I’m trying to get over it.

I included the fact that my daughter was teething because oh my god it was hell. The only thing that would keep her calm was being held but she also wanted down to play. She was unable to find a way to have her cake and eat it too so she screamed. A lot. She is now the proud owner of four new teeth and I’m terrified to see two more already coming in.

Total Sales:                  11

Free Downloads          65

My sales and my free downloads are up from last month which is great and unexplainable. I had two sales in the UK for my first episode but they didn’t move on to the next episode. I’ve only ever had that happen twice in the US when someone bought my second episode all but those two went on to buy the rest of them. So I like that read through rate.

I’m working on getting Episode One free in the UK and CA, it’s not happening as fast as I would like though. Because of that I’m going to figure out a way to have the book downloadable from my website.

I’ve had company all this week and I’ve been sick so I haven’t gotten much done writing and self-publishing. Which I’m fine with because I’ve been able to get so much done lately with my new daily writing goal.

This month’s focus will be on finishing edits for Episode five. My sister is the one visiting and she read the rough draft and really enjoyed it. She said it was action packed, which is what I was going for, so happy about that. That shouldn’t take the whole month so when I’m done I’ll move on the Episode Six with some Christmas story sprinkled in.

So that’s my monthly update.

  1. Every word is another word farther down the trail. This isn’t a race, this is a journey. You’re doing a fine job and I like the way you keep a tally of your progress. That keeps you personally accountable for your own production and is a great motivational technique. If I could count past three I might try to follow in your footsteps.

Don’t worry too much about the folks that buy the first book and don’t pick up the second immediately. A book can sit unread upon an e-reader for an awfully long time – just the same way as a book can sit on somebody’s shelf remaining stubbornly unread.

Good luck in July. Writing while taking care of a teething child cannot be easy but you are doing it just the same!

    🙂
